Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant Scheme Providing Welcome Support for Businesses

Hospitality, leisure and accommodation business most affected by the Omicron variant can apply for one-off grants of up to £6,000 per premises – and Dover District Council is busy processing applications online now from businesses in the district.

Applications from businesses in the district can be made on the DDC website at www.dover.gov.uk/omicron, and the closing date is 14 February.

The Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant Scheme is a new one-off grant provided by the Government for eligible businesses, with grants depending on the rateable value of the premises, and is to cover the period 30 December 2021 onwards.

Businesses are entitled to receive a grant for each eligible property, subject to conditions. Some businesses may receive more than one grant where they have more than one eligible property. Full details are online.

Additional discretionary funding is also being made available for local authorities to support other businesses, and details of this will be available shortly. For latest information, please see www.dover.gov.uk/business

Cllr Chris Vinson, DDC Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “We know just how hard many local businesses have found this Christmas period, with cancelled bookings and uncertainty over further restrictions. We are very pleased to be able to process these applications and help distribute this important funding.”

The Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant Scheme will close on Monday 14 February 2022 at midday. Final payments will be made by 31 March. For more information, or to apply online, please see www.dover.gov.uk/omicron
