New Life-Saving Equipment at Dover Museum - As Restart a Heart Campaign Comes to Dover

Dover District Council is welcoming news that a new defibrillator for the town is to be installed at Dover Museum on Tuesday 31 October – on the same day that St John Ambulance is holding a Restart A Heart campaign event in Dover Market Square.

The new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is being fitted on the external wall of the Museum, to provide life-saving equipment for residents and visitors to Dover.  The AED is being paid for with funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Representatives from St John Ambulance will also be in Dover Market Square during the day on 31 October (from 10am-3pm), providing free training and information for the public, as part of the Restart A Heart campaign.

This follows news this summer that town centres in Dover, Deal and Sandwich were made even safer following a unique initiative to train staff from local businesses in how to use a defibrillator.  One hundred people from 34 local businesses and community groups took part in one of twelve hour-long sessions, organised by DDC in partnership with St John Ambulance and funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Restart a Heart is held every October, where partners come together to increase public awareness of cardiac arrests and increase the number of people trained in life-saving CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and defibrillator use. The campaign is led by Resuscitation Council UK in partnership with St John Ambulance and other charities.
