Dover District Green Infrastructure Strategy

The Consultation on the draft Dover District Green Infrastructure Strategy, which sets out the Council's approach to improving the network of green infrastructure across Dover district has now closed.

Through the Green Infrastructure Strategy, we will:

  • Create more habitat for nature.
  • Have quality public open spaces.
  • Manage green infrastructure to adapt to the changing climate and support health and wellbeing.
  • Have green infrastructure at the heart of new development planning.
  • Work with our partners, communities, and residents to have more, improved, and better-connected green infrastructure.

The Strategy is informed by the Dover Green and Blue Infrastructure Strategy Evidence Report, which identifies the baseline position of green infrastructure in the District and provides an assessment of needs and opportunities and potential future actions to improve green infrastructure in the District.

This has led to the identification of the following key outcomes within the Green Infrastructure Strategy:

  • Protected and restored nature.
  • Greater resilience to the changing climate.
  • Sustainable water management.
  • Improved health and wellbeing for all.
  • Sustainable places.
  • Valued healthy landscapes.

The Strategy includes a draft Action Plan, with projects outlined that will contribute to the key outcomes.

The consultation ran for a period of 6 weeks from Tuesday 3rd October 2023 until 5pm Tuesday 14th November 2023.
