Rent charges

Government’s policy of Social Rent Reform means rents are now set on the same basis for both Housing Association and Local Authority homes. The new rents are being phased in over ten years, with a gradual shift towards the target rent for the property.

These changes mean the rent for your home is worked out according to its size, value and the average earnings for the area.

The rent calculation is complicated, so if you would like further information or explanation please speak to your Area Housing Officer.
