How will (LHA) Benefit be paid?

With LHA, benefit will normally be paid direct to you and it will be your responsibility to pay your rent to your landlord. You cannot simply choose to have your benefit paid direct to your landlord.

 

LHA will be paid direct into a bank account. This means that you will need to open a bank account if you do not have one already. You can then arrange for your bank or building society to pay your rent to your landlord automatically by Direct Debit or standing order. When are payments Made?

Payments are made every 2 weeks and will be paid into claimants’ accounts on the dates shown below. 

 

Please note, if a first payment is due for example because a tenant has moved into a new address, this first payment may be paid on a day between the dates shown.  The ‘catch up’ payments are generally paid every 3-4 days between the regular payments.
