Betteshanger Park Business Development Opportunities

Betteshanger Colliery closed in 1989, leaving 120 hectares for comprehensive redevelopment for a range of new uses, including 22,300 sqm of quality employment space and a community country park.

Location

Betteshanger Park is located in East Kent, between Dover, Canterbury and Ramsgate and is reached from London via the M2/A2 link. The site has direct access from the A258 between Deal and Sandwich.

Timescale

Planning consent was granted in February 2003 and detailed designs have been progressed to enable the first landscape works in the community park to commence during the summer of 2003. Infrastructure works have started and comprehensive redevelopment will be completed by mid 2005. By then a substantial new landscape will have been created which will enhance and complement the new development.

New Business Park

The aim of Betteshanger is to accommodate a range of business types within a high quality business park environment, managed sustainably for long term success.

The proposals are for:

  • High quality single storey commercial floorspace for production or storage uses
  • 'Flex' buildings (part office space, part commercial/production)
  • Multi-let office buildings forming part of an Innovation Centre
  • Single occupier office buildings for small to medium sized companies
  • A prestigious 'headquarters' type office building in a specially prepared and landscaped location
