National Level
The new Compact has been published by the coalition
government in partnership with Compact Voice:
The Office for Civil Society, as part of the
Cabinet Office, leads work across Government to support voluntary
and community groups, social enterprises,
charities, cooperatives and mutuals. It is the representative body
for the interests of the Government in all matters relating to the
Compact.
Formally known as the Compact Working Group.
Compact Voice is the representative body for the interests of the
voluntary and community sector in Compact matters.

Communities and Local Government
Communities and Local Government sets policy on local government,
housing, urban regeneration, planning and fire and rescue. It
has responsibility for all race equality and community
cohesion related issues in England and for building
regulations, fire safety and some housing issues in England and
Wales.

Advocacy
The Compact Advocacy Programme advocates
on behalf of voluntary and community organisations to ensure
government treats the sector fairly. The Programme is based at the
National Council for Voluntary Organisations in London and is
funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

PLP is an independent, national legal charity which aims to improve
access to public law remedies for those whose access is restricted
by poverty, discrimination or other similar barriers.

A statutory body with the responsibility to protect, enforce

disability, gender, race, religion and belief, sexual orientation
and gender reassignment.

RAISE exists to champion the third sector’s unique contribution to
making South East England socially, economically and
environmentally sustainable.

The national umbrella body of the Rural Community Action Network
(RCAN), which operates at national, regional and local level in

Planning Aid provides free, independent and professional town
planning advice and support to communities and individuals who
cannot afford to pay planning consultant fees.

- CASE Kent
CASE Kent works for and on behalf of local voluntary and
community organisations, to support and develop community
initiatives and voluntary action, and to encourage liaison between
voluntary and statutory organisations. Their area of operation
covers the local authority districts of Ashford, Dover, Shepway and
Thanet.

The volunteer centre for the Dover district. The
