Help for Community Organisations
Dover District Compact
The Dover District
Compact is a collective commitment to improve
relationships and the way we work together. Through local groups
and public bodies working together we can improve decision-making,
services and community engagement – bringing real benefits for
everyone in the Dover District.
Funding
There are many funding schemes available in Kent to support
local voluntary and community groups. To find details of other
funding opportunities please see:
Community Development
Please see our Community Development
Team pages for information on how we can support community
groups and networks. The team also has links to other organisations
working in the district helping local groups.
Information for voluntary and community organisations
VolResource aims to make it quick and easy to get to useful
information on anything to do with running a voluntary organisation
(whether a community group, charity or other non-profit body).
Community Payback
Community Payback is where an offender is
ordered to work in the community, either as part of a supervised
group or as a supervised individual for between 40 – 300 hours. It
is seen as a viable alternative to custody as it includes
punishment within the community as well as rehabilitation.
Community Payback projects range from litter removal to clearing
dense under growth, and environmental projects through repairing
and redecorating community centres or removing graffiti.
Local people and community groups are encouraged to help with
the selection of projects that will help make their community a
better place to live. Kent Probation looks for projects or
jobs, not normally carried out by paid workers, which combine both
hard work and learning skills.
Please see the Kent Probation
website for further infomation including criteria for projects and
an on-line nomination form.
Getting Involved
Dover District Council recognises, and values, that many people
are already active in the district, giving up hours of their time
to make life better for themselves, their neighbours and their
communities.
Please see our
Signpost page for ways for you to become more involved and
active in the community.
