| To mark the 70th anniversary of the evacuation of troops from France, join us for a weekend commemorating the "Miracle of Dunkirk". Take part in WWII events, experience living history encampments and find out what life was really like from English, French and German soldiers. Tour the tunnels from where Vice Admiral Ramsay masterminded the evacuation of allied troops, known as Operation Dynamo. Features at the event will include the firing of a 25lb Field Gun, military vehicles and bikes, living history - RAF, Army and Navy, horse displays and tent pegging. | 30th | Help For Heroes Charity Event on Dover Seafront |
| On Monday 24th May, 275 cyclists gathered at HMS Victory in Portsmouth to begin a bike ride around the Normandy battlefields. The cyclists will have covered nearly 350 miles, visiting various war memorials along the way and holding wreath-laying ceremonies. The cyclists range in age from 18 to 65 years old. There are at least 56 Army, 9 Navy, 1 Royal Marine and 12 RAF personnel on the ride, not to mention dozens of veterans and some wounded heroes back from Afghanistan. The weary cyclists will land at Dover on Sunday 30th May. They will leave Dunkirk on Saturday 29th May, where they have been taking part in the 70 the Anniversary of the evacuation of Dunkirk, on a Naval Vessel, arriving in Dover Harbour at approx 10am on the 30th. People are advised to gather at Dover Sea Sports Centre at approx 11.30am Sunday 30th, where there will be a Spitfire display over the harbour (weather permitting) for approx 20 minutes at 12 noon. From 1 – 2.30pm the cyclists will be brought a shore by landing craft from the Naval Vessel moored in the harbour, which will be followed by a welcome speech by the Dover Mayor. Finally at 3pm again weather permitting there will be a parachute display by the Red Devils Parachute Team before landing in Dover Harbour. | This is a fund-raising event being organised by the Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of Deal and entry is open to anyone who wishes to take part, particularly from a wide variety of private and business/charitable/youth organisations. Entrants will have to build a soap box, with the proviso that the soap box is hand-built and manually powered, for a timed sprint at Fowlmead Country Park. | 31st | 2010 Dunkirk Commemorative March Return to Dover |
| Commencing at 12.30pm, Historical Reenactors in 1940 Period Military Uniforms will march along Dover Seafront to the Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club for a parade and inspection by the Mayor of Dover Mrs Susan Jones. Those involved will have just returned from France where they will have just completed a 60 mile march in memory of the British and Allied Troops who fought there and were evacuated from Dunkirk in 1940. They will have also participated in numerous official commemorative events in Northern France. The marchers have gathered from all parts of the UK and indeed some of them will have come from the USA to participate . The last march was in 2000.
