Community Safety

Dover District Council is committed to reducing crime, disorder and the fear of crime. It will do this through projects and initiatives that it leads such as CCTV, by working in Partnership with the Community Safety Partnership and by involving the communities in the district.

Community Safety Partnership logo

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 requires that the Local Responsible Authorities in the district of Dover form a partnership which will produce, implement and monitor a three year strategy for reducing crime, disorder and the fear of crime in the district.

In the district the Local responsible Authorities are: Dover District Council, Kent Police, Kent County Council, East Kent Coastal Primary Care Trust, Kent Fire Brigade, Kent Probation, HM Customs and Excise, East Kent Young Offenders Service and the Kent Drug Action Team. Together these agencies form the District of Dover Community Safety Partnership.

Dover District Community Safety Partnership Plan 2008-2011

The Dover District Community Safety Partnership plan sets out the aims and objectives for the partnership over the period of April 2008 to March 2011. The Plan explains the structure and system for conducting business and the contribution and commitment of our partners. Our plan is forward looking with a focus on community and tackling the issues that matter most to our residents, businesses and visitors.

We have incorporated National and County targets along with locally identified issues that will form the focus of partnership business. We consider this plan to be a living document that gives the partnership the flexibility to react to changing problems within the community and utilise the combined skills, resources and expertise available to improve the quality and safety of Dover district.
