Corporate Plan - Introduction

Cliffs

At Dover District Council we recognise our district is on the brink of transformational regeneration that will affect every resident and visitor. Our top priority, working with partners, is to regenerate our district in a sustainable way that gives our residents a world-class future. Releasing our district’s potential will need to be built on innovative service delivery so that we continue to strive for excellence.

This Plan is outward looking and sums up our vision and ambitions and will drive our internal service plans. Progress will be reported in our Annual Plan and service specific targets will be set in our Chief Executive Organisational Targets document. Our Corporate Plan identifies how we will work to further improve your quality of life, whether as a resident, someone who works in the district or as a visitor. To achieve our vision, we will work hard with partners to meet some really stretching targets under the following key themes, to take us to 2020:

A World-Class Town

  • Dover, a ‘Gateway to Europe’, building on Dover Pride’s regeneration vision
  • An attractive Dover town that complements and supports the whole District.

World Class Heritage and Leisure

  • Realises and promotes the full potential of its heritage and natural assets
  • A popular short-break destination supporting fun for all residents and visitors.

  • Maximises the level of retail spending kept within the District
  • Has excellent strategic transport links to London, Europe and within the district
  • Maximises our international gateway status
  • Has employment opportunities and access to learning for all.

World-Class Communities

  • That are strong and safe with a sense of identity, the envy of the world
  • That are self-reliant and prosperous demonstrating self belief and selfconfidence to meet our world class aspirations
  • Where children and young people matter.
  • These themes are underpinned by our plans to drive radical service transformation to achieve:
  • The lowest 10% of regional service costs
  • The highest 10% of national performance outcomes
  • The highest 10% of national customer satisfaction levels
  • Maximum self-service within self-reliant and prosperous communities

We will work with others to deliver this transformation and underpin our targets with sensitivity to sustainability, diversity, equality and crime prevention.
