Reporting Incidents
A hate crime is any crime committed against any person based on
their racial group, religion, sexual orientation, disability,
class, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, social
status, or political affiliation.
If you feel you have been the victim of hate crime please
contact Kent Police on 101. If your call is
an emergency dial 999.
Alternatively you can contact the Kent Racial Incident Reporting
Line on 0800 1381624. The Racial Incident Reporting Line
(RIRL) is a 24 hour freephone line service that deals with and
records non urgent reports of racial incidents in the Kent
area. The line provides a sensitive and discretionary service
for all its customers. Furthermore, customers have the option
of nine different languages (French, Czech, Polish, Turkish,
Mandarin, Bengali, Urdu, Hindu and Farsi) to choose from. This
initiative is a multi agency commitment to address racial
harassment.
You can also call 0800 328 9162. The Dover District Community
Safety Partnership with other agencies across East Kent has
established this free 24 hour helpline for victims of hate
crime. This line is staffed by trained operators who are able
to offer advice and support to callers.
You can also contact the Dover District Community Safety Unit on
01304 872220 and leave a message. Someone will call you back
as soon as possible and certainly within one working day. You
can also email the Unit on CSU@dover.gov.uk.
All calls to any of the above telephone lines will be treated
with sensitivity and discretion.
The Community Safety Unit is staffed from Monday to Friday, 9am
to 5pm. Outside these hours, a message can be left and a member of
the Unit will return your call when the office is next
open.
