Dover District Standards Committee
The composition and remit of the Standards
Committee and its annual reports.
Every council is required to adopt a
Code of Conduct that sets out rules governing the behaviour of its
Members.
The Standards Committee is responsible for
considering complaints made about the conduct of a Dover
District Councillor or a councillor at one
of the 35 town and parish councils in the
district. It can only consider complaints about
individual councillors or members. We cannot consider complaints
about the council as a whole or about people employed by it.
In cases where the Standards Committee
refers a complaint against an elected or co-opted
member for local investigation a finding will be made as to
whether the Code of Conduct has been breached. These findings are
published in the local press and on the Council's website.
The Standards Committee may grant
dispensations from the Code of Conduct for elected and co-opted
Members of parish/town councils and Dover District Council.
