Equality and Access to services
No one would think it was fair or right if someone was
treated in a worse way than them just because they were different,
or even worse, if someone were not allowed to use a service just
because of this difference. At DDC we recognise that while everyone
is different, they have the right to be treated with an equal level
of respect and have equal access to our services and
facilities.
We are committed to ensuring equality in everything we do both
through our service provision and through our responsibilities as
an employer.
Firms and organisations that are awarded tenders are acting on
behalf of Dover District Council, and we expect them to comply with
equality legislation in the same manner as we would ourselves.

Our work with the community
We work with, consult with and support a wide variety of
community and voluntary groups throughout the district. Our
Community Development
pages provide information the variety of activities and
support that is available.
Customer Services
Our customer services staff are all able to help people with
specific accessibility requirements and our customer services
manager is available via the main switchboard should you need to
talk to someone confidentially. The team can also help with
translation, interpretation, Braille and Sign requirements.

lots of really useful information for people newly arrived in the
UK. At present this is available in Polish, Slovakian and
Portugese. Further languages will follow in the near
future.
