Coast Protection
Coastal Erosion and Defence in White Cliffs Country
Dover District Council is responsible for the management of
the coast defences between Sandown Castle, Deal and Kingsdown and
also at St. Margaret's Bay in accordance with the Council's powers
under the Coast Protection Act 1949 to undertake works to protect
the coast from the effects of erosion.
The Council manages those Coast Defences on the frontage
undertaking major capital and revenue schemes on the defences in
accordance with policies prepared in line with national
guidance.
