Place Survey

You, or someone you know, may soon be receiving a survey that will help inform the future direction of services in the Dover District area.

As part of a range of new national requirements, a statutory survey called the Place Survey must be carried out by all councils every two years. The first survey will be sent out to 5,000 random households across the district at the end of September. All household samples are chosen by the Audit Commission.

The survey will ask residents about the things that affect their daily lives, and the local strategic partnership (which is made up of the council and partners from the public, private, voluntary and community sectors). The results will show what people think of the area, their lives and their communities. This will tell us which services are being delivered well and residents are happy with, as well as those that aren’t, which will allow the partners to look at how resources could be targeted better to make improvements. The survey will only take around fifteen minutes to fill in, but can help influence how services are delivered for the next two years.

So, if your household receives the Place Survey, please fill it in as per the instructions in the pack. The more questionnaires that are returned the more reliable the data is with respect to reflecting the views and experiences of the general population of our District. As an added incentive, people who return their survey will automatically be entered into a prize draw, where they can win £100 worth of high street shopping vouchers.

Conditions of entry

No purchase is necessary. We will only accept one entry per household (and entrants must be over 18). The prize is not transferable and there is no cash alternative. The decision is final and we will not accept any appeals. The draw will be held on Monday 2 February 2009 and we will write to the winners. Our employees and their immediate families cannot enter the draw.

If you enter the prize draw, we will consider that you have accepted the rules.

You can find out the winner’s name by sending a stamped addressed envelope to:
