As part of our ongoing commitment to ensure access to services for all members of the community, Dover District Council is pleased to be working closely with a range of partners, including the Dover District Disability Association. We are working with the Association on a range of key issues, including access to the new Whitfield Reception. Here we take a look at the important work the Association does.
The Dover District Disability Association is the voice for physically disabled people in the district and it speaks out on local and national concerns. Members come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring a variety of skills and experiences. The Association speaks on issues such as public transport, access, social services and health service provision, housing, and a wide range of other key subjects.
The Association provides an important forum for people to have their say in the provision of services for physically disabled people in the district, including working closely with Dover District Council.
Pauline Hamilton, Chairperson of DDDA, said: “By working together, we can make a positive impact on a wide range of issues. As well as making a difference for physically disabled people, it can also be a great way to meet new people and gain skills and confidence. We are always glad to welcome new members, and the more people involved the stronger the voice of the forum will be.”
