Dover District’s voluntary and community sector is set to benefit following news of success for the Dover and District Compact.
In the winter issue of Dover District Council@your service, the Compact Implementation Group announced it has been involved in a bid to the Big Lottery Fund (BLF). This bid was successful and voluntary and community organisations in the Dover district will now have the support of two development workers, thanks to the award.
CASE Kent, with its Compact partners, has been successful in a Big Lottery bid to fund a full-time Network Support Officer and a part-time Compact Officer. The Network Support Officer’s role will be to create a network of voluntary and community organisations across the Dover District. This will improve the sector’s voice and provide a forum for consultation with public bodies, such as Dover District Council and Eastern and Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust. The Compact Officer will support and help implement the Dover & District Compact, which is an agreement to strengthen partnership working between public bodies and local voluntary and community groups. It represents a collective commitment to improve the way we work together for the benefit of all communities in the district. Compact membership is open to all groups within the Dover District and we are keen for more groups to sign up. For more details, please see www.dover.gov.uk/compact
