Noisy Neighbours

As part of our ongoing commitment to deliver quality services, to support communities, and to work for improved quality of life for all residents, DDC operates a service to deal with persistent or severe noise problems.

DDC will take all appropriate action to deal with complaints of noise nuisance. This may include serving a Noise Abatement Notice.

Local Authorities are empowered under the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to take action if an Abatement Notice has not been complied with.

In keeping with our commitment on enforcement, DDC has recently taken action following complaints regarding a house in Sandwich, and two in Deal. After serving appropriate Notices, which were subsequently breached and witnessed by Out Of Hours Noise Officers, warrants were obtained from Magistrates.

The warrants were duly exercised and noise-making equipment was seized from three properties on separate occasions in December and January.

For more information or to report a noise nuisance, call (01304) 872428 or to report online, log onto www.dover.gov.uk/environmental-health/noise.asp
