Youngsters in Sandwich are being given a new year boost from Dover District Council with exciting new play equipment. A modern multi-play unit for toddlers, and a versatile roundabout with a colourful safety surface have been installed at the Butts.
The new equipment was funded by DDC as part of our ongoing commitment to improve strategic sites across the area, and in keeping with the District Play Strategy. Major new play facilities are also on the way in Pencester Gardens in Dover and Marke Wood in Deal, following a successful bid to the Big Lottery Children’s Play Programme.
Designs for the play areas in Dover and Deal have been agreed, following extensive public consultation, and it is anticipated they will be completed by June 2008.
Designs for a state-of-the-art concrete skate park at Victoria Park in Deal have been finalised following ongoing youth consultation.
The skate park is being substantially funded by Kent County Council, with additional funding from the Big Lottery and DDC, and subject to planning permission, it is anticipated to be completed by the summer.
