Ground breaking multi million pound plans for Aylesham have taken a key step forward with the signing of the Development Agreement between Dover District Council and developer partners Ward Homes and Hillread Homes.
Ward Homes and Hillread Homes were selected as preferred development partners by Dover District Council last summer. The ten year project includes the development of 1,100 environmentally efficient homes, new and improved shopping facilities, community services and related infrastructure.
Dover District Council has been working with English Partnerships and the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) to progress the scheme. Proposals were taken forward under the Creating Quality Places initiative between SEEDA and the Prince’s Foundation. Plans were drawn up following extensive community involvement and a blueprint for the development, known as the Aylesham Masterplan, was approved following one of the most comprehensive public consultation exercises Dover District Council has ever undertaken. A planning application is expected soon and subject to planning permission work could begin by early 2008.
