A new collection vehicle was introduced in April, which means we now have the capacity to provide a kerbside collection service to every household in the district.
Over the past four months, many changes have been made to the black box recycling collections. Many of you would have seen changes with your collection day, time or even your recycling crew. The changes have been made, where possible, to bring recycling collection days in line with refuse collection days. It also meant that a further 7000 properties could be added to the three existing recycling vehicles in March.
In April, we saw the introduction of the new mini kerbside vehicle, the smallest kerbside vehicle available, to address all of the roads within the district that we were unable to access with the large kerbside vehicle. We have also been working with many Resident and Housing Associations and Managing Agents to bring recycling to flats and sheltered accommodation. On the whole the changes have been minor, but there have been some ‘teething problems’ and we have been working hard with the recycling crews and our contractor to try and ensure that the service provided is consistent and of a high standard.
If you are not already using the service, you can call our Customer Contact Centre on 01304 872428 or log onto www.dover.gov.uk/recycling to check your collection day and give it a go!
