Dover And District Compact

Compacts are a Government-led initiative and the Dover & District Compact is about local groups and public bodies working together to achieve more for the local community. The emphasis is on partnership work and consultation to give local groups a voice to empower their community.

A Compact Implementation Group meets quarterly to promote and deliver the Compact. This is a cross-sector group working to ensure all groups know about and use the Compact. The Group has recently revised its Terms of Reference, drawn up a dispute resolution procedure and prepared a summary leaflet. These are available to download on www.dover.gov.uk/compact

The Group has also been involved in a bid to the Big Lottery Fund. This is one of only three bids in Kent to go successfully through to the second stage. If successful, it will provide a network for the voluntary and community sector working across the district and support to make the Dover and District Compact benefit local groups. A decision will be announced shortly.

The group is looking into finding a transparent way for local groups to be represented and building effective two-way communication between representatives and those they are speaking for. If your group would like to become involved, please contact CASE Kent on (01304) 240090 or e-mail: dover@casekent.org.uk
