With the arrival of the high-speed rail link in 2009, and with a world class port at Dover, world class heritage and a range of exciting developments all coming together, Dover District is set for a fast forward to a world class future.
A range of major developments includes:
Work on key developments can already be seen underway, including building on the White Cliffs Business Park and Dover Sea Sports Centre, work on the new transport depot for Stagecoach, (an important step in bringing forward DTIZ) and continuing improvements to Dover Priory ahead of the rail link.
We are also taking centre stage on a world class sporting arena, with the Open Golf Tournament returning to Royal St George’s in Sandwich.
These are all major developments, set to bring unparalleled opportunities to the district, which herald exciting times ahead. Yet there is also much more to come with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to strengthen links between the town of Dover and its renowned port and heritage. DDC has been working with the port and partners, including English Partnerships, SEEDA and KCC, to develop a stunning new waterfront for Dover. Plans include connecting landmark tourist and heritage sites with the port by building a state-of-the-art land bridge and an internationally recognised iconic tower. This continues the important work of multi agency partnership Dover Pride.
And now a DVD has been produced showing how the work in progress on all these concepts for regeneration will be linked to provide the town with a transformational world-class future. This DVD can be seen at: www.dover.gov.uk/regeneration
