Climate Change - Communities

Community clipartOrdinary people acting together in formal or informal groups can achieve great things. Groups of all sizes and communities are taking meaningful action to help reduce global emissions.

The following groups are currently working on schemes within our district:-

  • St. Margarets-at-Cliffe
The community has purchased home energy monitors to help reduce energy use.
  • Deal With It
Is a community group interested in minimising environmental impact and tackling climate change on a local level. They are currently working on a project with the Energy Saving Trust to encourage residents to insulate their homes and reduce their energy consumption.
  • Hougham-Without Parish Council
Through holding climate change parishioner forums Hougham-Without Parish Council realised that many people had no idea how much they could save on their energy bills by taking simple actions. They devised ‘The Hougham Plugged-In Chart’ to demonstrate the energy many domestic appliances consume when they are on standby , and even more significantly by just being plugged into the mains without being switched on.

Energyshare is looking to fund projects that aim to save or generate energy locally, and will benefit the local community.
