Air Quality Annual Progress Report 2010

The Annual Progress Report review of new monitoring data, has shown that exceedences of nitrogen dioxide continue to occur in Dover A20 Trunk Road AQMA and High Street/Ladywell AQMA where there is relevant exposure. Exceedences also continue to occur in the Eastern Docks. At this location there is no relevant exposure.

Outside the AQMAs there were no exceedences.

Sulphur dioxide levels in the Eastern Dock port area would appear to have reduced over the past few years predominately due to the introduction of tighter EU controls on bunker fuels used by cross-channel shipping. No exceedences of the 15 minute Objective for sulphur dioxide has been recorded during the last year. It is recommended that monitoring continue at this site as weather conditions can cause a significant number of exceedences in a short period of time.
