Help with Drainage Problems
Can the Environmental Health Department help me?
Yes, the Local Authority has a statutory duty to investigate
private drainage problems.
The Environmental Health Department (contact details below) may
be contacted if problems are encountered in identifying what
category the drainage serving your property falls into as we have
some maps detailing the main sewer system.

If there are problems with people accepting responsibility the
Council can serve notices on affected properties requiring works.
Such notices usually give 48 hours to clear the blockage.
If the works do not get done then the Council will carry
out the works in default and invoice the affected owners. These
costs include an admin charge.
