Private Pumping Stations

Private sewage pumping stations will not transfer on 1st October 2011. These should gradually be adopted by water companies and the government has set a date of October 2016 at which point all private pumping stations which meet the transfer criteria will be transfered.

The same rules will apply to private pumping stations as the sewers. i.e. all private pumping stations which serve more than one property, or those outside the property boundary of the property they serve, will transfer. This is a complex area and we suggest you seek advice from your Local Water Authority

Private Sewers that are connected to private pumping stations will transfer to the water and sewerage company on October 2011.

Sewage treatment, septic tanks and cesspits are not subject to transfer at any time.
