Food hygiene has become a cause of great public concern and interest in recent years with major food issues such as E.coli, BSE and Salmonella making headline news. Dover District Council's team of food safety inspectors is addressing these food issues locally and is striving to improve food safety and hygiene standards across the district.
The main focus of the Food Safety team's work is aimed at reducing the incidence of food poisoning in the district. This is done by registration and inspection of all food businesses, investigation of food complaints, enforcement of the Food Safety Act and associated legislation, provision of food hygiene training, and offering advice and guidance. Clean Food Awards are given to those food businesses that have high standards of food safety and hygiene.
