Core Strategy adopted

At an Extraordinary Council meeting on 24 February 2010 the Core Strategy has been adopted.

This document is the first document in the Local Development Framework to be adopted, and forms part of the Development Plan. The Core Strategy replaces parts of the adopted Local Plan (aside from some of the 'saved' policies) as the Development Plan for the District. Updates will be made to the website regularly.

A new version of the Proposals Map, incorporating the Core Strategy proposals has also been adopted by the Council, however this is in the process of being finalised. These changes encompass the four strategic allocations, the groundwater protection zone and changes to the town centre boundary in Dover.

In order to ensure a comprehensive picture please look at the documents below:

Please note the finalised Proposals Map will also include Kent Minerals and Waste allocations. Details of these can be found in LD 8/73 below.

Examination

Following an Examination in Public in October, an independent Planning Inspector has found that Dover District Council’s Core Strategy is sound.

To view comments that have been made on the LDF documents please click on the following website consultation.limehouse.co.uk/dover

A Schedule of Proposed Minor Changes to the Core Strategy was submitted to the Planning Inspectorate (LD 8/72 and LD 8/73). In accordance with the the Regulations, any representations that were submitted at this stage in the LDF process needed to relate to the national “tests of soundness”.   Further information on the "test of soundness" can be obtained from the Planning Inspectorate website.

Copies of all of the representations and any accompanying information that the District Council received on the Submission version of the Core Strategy were sent to the Planning Inspectorate and are available to view at the Council offices, public libraries, and via the Council’s website.

Information submitted to the Planning Inspectorate

A version of the Core Strategy Submission Document which incorporates the proposed changes as stated in LD 8/72 can now be downloaded here. Please note that this needs to be read in conjuction with LD 8/73 and the Inspector's Report.

The Planning Inspectorate has also received a complete copy of the Evidence Base that has informed and supported the preparation of the Core Strategy.  The Evidence Base can be viewed on the Internet or at the main District Council Offices in Whitfield by appointment with the Programme Officer. The numbering which precedes a document title corresponds with the Evidence Base Library Document list submitted to the Planning Inspectorate. These documents can be found both under the Studies (including Strategic Allocations) section of the website but also Core Strategy, Sustainability Appraisal, Workshops & Research and also Community Involvement.
