The Centre provides a range of services, including:

 

  • 24 Hour drop-in centre for homeless people
  • Meals
  • Washing and laundry facilities
  • Second-hand clothing available
  • Advice and support on employment and training
  • Access to resettlement services
  • Support in moving into long term accommodation
  • Advice on alcohol and substance abuse
  • Advice on mental health

Craddock House offers supported housing for 21 residents, in the form of 5 shared flats in Dover, Canterbury and Thanet:

  • Tenants have their own bedrooms, but share other facilities. Upon entry, each tenant is assigned a key worker who helps him or her develop a support plan to address his or her housing and support needs. However, support is low-level and staff are generally only available Monday-Friday.
  • Staff facilitate move-on to longer term accommodation for tenants.

 

The service is for single homeless people, over the age of 18, who are:

  • Willing to engage with staff and accept support
  • Aware of personal responsibility and have the ability to care or themselves
  • Committed to addressing issues that have hindered housing in the past
  • Committed to controlling substance misuse
  • Prepared to share with and respect people from a variety of backgrounds, ages and cultures
  • Able to manage basic living skills

 

 

 

Porchlight Direct Access Hostel (Canterbury)

This is a 16-bedroom hostel offering accommodation and support to homeless people on a 3 month licence. Key workers devise support plans with tenants, based on their individual needs. The support given to tenants helps them plan for the future, and may include help with drug and alcohol issues and arranging move-on accommodation.

This hostel offers accommodation and support to homeless young people on a 3 month licence. Key

  • Fern Court offers supported accommodation; it has the facilities to accommodate 12 people for the duration of their tenancy or licence.
  • Each tenant has an individual bedroom with en-suite facilities, but kitchen facilities are shared
  • An assigned key worker helps each tenant develop a support plan to address their housing and support needs
  • Tenants have access to other appropriate support services

 

 

New Horizons (Porchlight)

Support for single homeless people aged 18-65, who are enduring mental illness. Their mission is to manage, develop and facilitate coherent, innovative responses to the problems suffered by homeless people and those with complex needs. Their vision is to end the cycle of  homelessness and social exclusion by providing accommodation and support services to single people and help statutory and other voluntary groups through open, accountable and effective partnership working.  Tenants pay a small personal contribution when in residence.

 

People must be referred by CPN or Social Worker, and will require:

  • East Kent Cyrenians referral form
  • Mental Health Needs Assessment
  • Mental Health Risk Assessment
  • ADL Assessment
  • Single Agency Assessment
  • CPA

 

 

 

 

New Town Street (Porchlight)

15 New Town Street offers supported accommodation for young people, in the form of 8 fully furnished bedsit rooms. Each bedsit has its own kitchenette, and bathroom and toilet facilities are shared. There is also a communal TV lounge, laundry facilities and garden.

 

The project is staffed by a Young Person Worker Monday-Friday, who helps tenants develop a support plan to address their housing and support needs.

 

 

Rethink Supported Housing (Willow Lodge)

Supported housing for those recovering from mental illness. Support staff help residents develop daily living skills, including:

  • Shopping
  • Budgeting
  • Environment maintenance
  • Tenancy maintenance (including rent payment, dealing with neighbours etc)
  • Other daily living skills

 

Residents pay weekly support and rental charges.

 

 

St Martin’s Emmaus

St Martin’s Emmaus offers homeless men and women:

  • A home: all residents have a private room and shower room
  • Work: St Martin’s Emmaus does its best to preserve the environment, and as part of this ethos runs a re-cycling and recirculating business.
  • The chance to rebuild their selfrespect in a supportive, community environment.
