Help for Owner occupiers
Over 70% of the homes in the district are owner occupied and the
Council is particularly concerned with householders that are
disabled, elderly or vulnerable.
The following help is available:
We provide a limited range of financial
assistance to help
i. fund repairs and improvements to private
dwellings to bring them up to the 'Decent Homes Standard',
ii to increase energy efficiency or
iii.to adapt your home for a disabled
person
- Home Improvement
Agency (HIA)
The HIA provides advice and assistance to help you carry out
works to your home and to live independently. This
includes the handyperson service to carry out minor repairs at low
cost for disabled, vulnerable and elderly residents
