Sheltered Housing

Sheltered Housing provides accommodation to meet the needs of elderly people or others with special needs to enable them to live an independent life within the community.

Sheltered Housing provides a quiet and friendly environment with the added reassurance of a Sheltered Housing Officer living either on-site or within a 10-minute drive offering security and peace of mind.

Within the accommodation there is an intercom service which links you to the White Cliffs Careline. This is Dover District Councils 24-hour emergency alarm service. Tenants can pull a cord and speak to an operator who can provide the suitable help and support.

The Sheltered Housing Officer will support the service users of the scheme, to ensure they can continue to live independently and play a full part in their community. This includes liaising with relevant agencies when needed and ensuring that necessary care, advice and specialist support are provided.

The Sheltered Housing Officer will arrange for any necessary support or assistance in the event of an emergency and make contact with service users on designated days, advising and assisting as required.

They help in obtaining financial entitlements and help with forms such as transfer applications and housing benefits.

Our aim is to support people without intruding on their independence and privacy.
