Tenant Involvement Agreement

This District wide Tenant Involvement Agreement is a negotiated agreement between Dover District Council (DDC) and the Tenants for all Dover District tenants, which sets out how they can become involved in housing issues that affect them and the area in which they live. It explains how Tenants can become involved at various levels, ranging from just being informed via the Tenants’ newsletter to being elected as a Tenants’ representative with voting rights on the District and Area Groups.

This Tenant Involvement Agreement represents a major change in the way tenants can have their voice heard in Dover District. It has been developed by a partnership between Tenants, Elected Members, and Officers and will be in place for a period of 3 years. It covers all of the housing services that the Council delivers to its tenants and sets out:

  • How tenants can get involved in decisions on housing matters which affect them;
  • What the Council and its tenants want to achieve through the Tenant Involvement Agreement, such as improving information, the standard of local services, the way services are delivered, the quality of life and how better ways of working together can be developed;
  • How the Agreement will be implemented, monitored and checked to make sure it is working properly.

This Tenant Involvement Agreement has been developed so that everyone knows where they stand, what their responsibilities are and what opportunities there are for tenants to have their voice heard. It is seen as part of the process for encouraging more tenants to get involved.
