You can claim Housing Benefit if you are the named person liable to pay the rent. If you are a joint tenant we can also help you with your share of the rent. In some circumstances you can be treated as the liable person, even though you are not the named person on the tenancy agreement.
We can not help you pay a mortgage; you will need to contact the Department for Work and Pensions if you require this help.

Help with your rent
Before you check the guide please do the following:-
If you have other adults in your household you may get less Housing and Council Tax benefit.
If you are a private tenant and your rent is high, or if you are a single person under 25 you may not get all your rent paid.
