Interested Parties

A person is an interested party in relation to  an application for the grant or variation of a premises licence if, in the opinion of the licensing authority which issues the licence or to which the application is made, the person:

  • (a) lives sufficiently close to the premises to be likely to be affected by the authorised activities,
  • (b) has business interests that might be affected by the authorised activities, or
  • (c) represents persons who satisfy paragraph (a) or (b).

It should be noted that the need for another premises to provide gambling in a geographic location is not a matter that can lawfully be considered by the licensing authority.  This is a matter for the local authority planning section.

Any representations made must have a bearing on the promotion of the licensing objectives.
