Dover & Deal Areas Motor Hackney Carriage Fares

Fares for Distance - Recorded on the Taximeter	Fare
If the distance does not exceed 400 yards: (approx 366 metres) for the whole distance:	£2.50
If the distance exceed 400 yards: (approx 366 metres) for the first 400 yards:	£2.50
For each subsequent 176 yards (approx 161 metres) or uncompleted part thereof:	£0.10

Waiting Time	Fare
For each period of 45 seconds or uncompleted portion thereof:	20p

Extra Charges	Fare
For hirings begun between 12 midnight and 6 a.m. on all days other than Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Bank Holidays	50% of the distance rate of fares
For hirings on Christmas Day and Boxing Day	100% of the distance rate of fares
For hirings on Bank Holidays other than Christmas Day and Boxing Day:	£0.50
For hirings on Sundays:	£0.50
For each article of luggage conveyed outside the carriage:	£0.10
For each person in excess of one:	£0.10

Adverse Weather Conditions

During adverse weather conditions, defined as when the East Kent Road Car Company withdraw their services due to adverse weather, the tariffs relating to distance and waiting time are increased by 50 per cent.

Contamination Fee

A fee of £50 will be permitted to be charged in cases of soiling or fouling within a Hackney Carriage caused by any person or animal.

Journeys Outside the Above Areas

Fares outside the vehicle's licensed area may be negotiated prior to the commencement of the journey. If no such agreement is reached then the meter fare only must be charged.
