Applications
Any application must:
- a) Specify the species and number of animals of each species
that it is intended will be kept.
- b) Specify the premises where any animal will be kept
The local authority cannot issue a licence unless it is
satisfied:
1) That it is not contrary to the public interest on the grounds
of safety, nuisance or other reason to grant the licence
2) The applicant is a suitable person to hold the licence
3) Any animal concerned will at all times be kept only under the
authority of the licence in respect specifically:
- 3.1 Be held in accommodation which secures that the animal will
not escape, which is suitable as regards construction, size,
temperature, lighting, ventilation, drainage, and cleanliness and
is suitable for the number of animals proposed to be held in the
accommodation
- 3.2 Be supplied with adequate and suitable food, drink, bedding
material and will be visited at suitable intervals.
4) Appropriate steps will be taken for the protection of any
animal concerned in case of fire or other emergency.
5) All reasonable precautions will be taken at all times to
prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases
6) While the animal is at the premises its accommodation is such
that it can take reasonable exercise.
