Complaints

Complaints regarding the conduct of a driver may be made to the Licensing Team. Members of the public may however also complain to the operator of the firm for whom the driver drives.

Where the complaint is of a criminal nature the Licensing Team will not commence any investigation until notification is received from the police that they have concluded their enquiries.

Where a complaint is made by telephone we will normally ask that this be confirmed in writing in order that we have documentary evidence in the event of legal challenge. Where the matter may be taken before court or committee a written statement may be taken in order to comply with the rules of evidence.

If the complaint is of a serious nature the driver may be suspended immediately, however this has to be balanced against whether such action is necessary in order to comply with the provisions of the Human Rights Act 1998. Where public safety is a concern the  driver may be suspended immediately.
