Animal Movement Licences

Livestock movements

There are various movement permissions required in respect of livestock in particular cattle, sheep, goats and pigs.

Information on the licences can be obtained from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Pigs

Whether you keep one pig as a pet or a commercial herd you need to follow certain rules regarding the identification of your animal.   These movement licences can be obtained from the local office of the Kent County Council, Trading Standards.  For the Dover District Council area the local office  is situated  at Kroner House, Eurogate Business Park,Ashford, TN24 8XU.  telephone  number 01233 898825

Pig movements must be accompanied by a completed AML2 movement document. The movement must be reported by the recipient of the animals to their Local Authority within 3 days of the movement taking place using the appropriate AML form.

Pet pigs which are returned immediately to the holding they were moved from should be moved under a PRIMO walking licence issued by the Divisional Veterinary Manager (DVM). Pigs moving from a market will need an individual movement licence. This will be issued at the market by the Local Authority and will also serve as the PRIMO movement document
