A selection of fossils

Fossils from the Dover Museum collection

A selection of fossils from the Dover Museum collection. The large spiralling fossil on the left is an ammonite, as is the smaller fossil to it's top right. The ridged fossils below is are bivalves, and the round smooth-surfaced fossils are echinoids.

The sea cliffs north of Dover to Kingsdown cliffs form a very long stretch of chalk cliff. The cliffs contain fossils which sometimes become apparent after high tides and cliff falls. These include bivalves, brachiopods and ammonites.
