Deal Market Remains At Union Road

Following an extended consultation on a possible relocation of Deal Market to the best possible place for the community, Dover District Council has listened to all feedback and Cabinet has today agreed (subject to Scrutiny) that the market should continue to be held on Saturday at its current location in Union Road.

As the District Council has clearly stated throughout this review, it is committed to supporting Deal Market, and to ensuring that it is located where the community wants it to be.  The consultation was launched as a direct response to feedback received at a public meeting to discuss the Parking Strategy, and reflected comments from the community and the Town Council.

Roger Walton, Head of Property, Leisure and Waste Management, said: “We have always believed that North Deal was the right place for the market, but given the feedback received, we felt we should consult the public to ensure that the decision on whether the market should be moved reflected the opinions of the community.”
