Deal Study - Working With The Community For The Future In
Deal
Residents and organizations who would like to
have their say on the future plans for Middle and North Deal are
invited to a workshop at the Golf Road Centre on Wednesday 25
January at 6pm.
The event aims to update the community on progress on a study
for Deal and how it may develop in the future, and to seek views on
the work so far.
Dover District Council and Kent County Council, with the support
of the Environment Agency, have appointed consultants GVA to lead
on a study of North and Middle Deal. The study focuses on the flood
risk, transport and habitat issues that affect the northern part of
the town and the Sholden area.
Since the public exhibition, which was held in October 2011,
technical work has progressed. The latest stage of the project
includes detailed testing of access options and flood modelling.
The purpose of the event on 25 January is not just to provide
information, but to gather valuable input from local people through
‘round the table’ discussions. The Council and its consultants
would like to use this event to discuss proposals with the
community and understand local views in order to inform the final
recommendations of this stage of the study.
Cllr Paul Watkins, Leader of Dover District Council stressed the
importance of getting people involved in the study. He said: "Dover
District Council is working hard to involve and listen to the local
community. Residents can come and talk to consultants, officers and
councillors, and we want people to tell us what they think.
Feedback from this event will provide a valuable collection of
views and ideas on how the Middle and North Deal area can develop
in the future - don't miss this opportunity to have your say."
Please note that due to the capacity of the venue attendance is
limited and residents are asked to please confirm attendance before
Tuesday 24 January 2012 by email to regenerationdelivery@dover.gov.uk
or telephone 01304 872477.
