Victorian Festival 2011
Chimney sweeps, chamber maids, and a colourful collection of
costumed characters were welcomed to Dover Town Hall when more than
300 pupils from a range of Kent schools came along for the return
of the popular Victorian Festival.
The festival was organised by Dover Museum and took place on
Monday and Tuesday 7/8 November. Visitors were invited to come
along dressed in Victorian costume, and activities included a drama
workshop on life as a Victorian child, and the opportunity to make
masks and clay tiles, try a Victorian quiz, and draw artefacts.
There was also the chance for pupils to have their hair styled and
faces made-up in keeping with the times, and the days were rounded
off with a sing-along of Victorian songs.
