The primary purpose of the Building Control Service is to ensure the health and safety of people in and around buildings. This is achieved in a number of different ways, listed below, some of which are proactive measures, while others are reactive.

  • Pre-application Advice
  • Building Regulations Applications
  • Control of Demolition
  • Control of Dangerous Buildings & Structures

The Team

The Building Control Service is staffed with experienced and appropriately qualified personnel. All staff undergo suitable training every year to allow them to continue with their professional development and to ensure that they have the necessary skills and up to date knowledge to provide a high quality service to our clients and the general public.

The Building Control Surveyors generally work within specified areas of the Borough. This allows them to become very familiar with their particular area and build up a unique knowledge relating to matters such as site history and ground conditions.
