Applications for works to trees and hedgerows

New arrangements come into effect on 1 October 2008 for applications for (i)  works to trees either the subject of Tree Preservation Orders or within Conservation Areas and (ii) the service of Hedgerow Removal Notices.

From that date, all such matters will be the subject of formal validation procedures. Applications for works to trees the subject of a Tree Preservation Order will need to be made on a new national form.

Applications for works to trees in Conservation Areas may be made on the same form, the Council's own form or in writing. Hedgerow Removal Notices may be submitted on a new national form or the form set out in Schedule 4 of the Hedgerow Regulations 1997. In all cases, there are national requirements for applications or notices to be valid. These are set out in the Council's Validation Checklists V19 (Hedgerow Removal Notices) and V23 (Works to Trees).
