Corporate Property Management

The Property Services Division is responsible for the management of the Council’s corporate property stock. The past few years have seen much greater emphasis placed on ensuring effective asset management and the Division has played a key role in the progress made to date. The corporate property work also includes managing both operational and leased properties on a day to day basis and so ensuring that the Council’s property interests are safeguarded. The work includes the management of the Council’s property database and negotiating terms of leases and licences in relation to the usage of the Council’s wide property portfolio.

Corporate Property Maintenance

The Property Services Division has responsibility for the management of the day-to-day and planned maintenance and renovation of the Council’s corporate property portfolio as well as new works. This can range from dealing with buildings such as the Whitfield Offices to arranging for minor repairs to cemetery walls or public conveniences. Works are carried out by private contractors. The work of the Division also extends to undertaking property audits in relation to the Council’s responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act 1994 (DDA) and Control of Asbestos Regulations 2002. Staff also undertake planned maintenance work to the property portfolio and the current work programme includes refurbishment works to the Area Offices and the Reception at Whitfield.
