Call for Additional Sites
Following the adoption of the Council's LDF Core Strategy
earlier this year, the Council is now intending to progress the
Site Allocations Document from the Preferred Option stage to
submission for approval and adoption. The primary purpose of the
Document is to identify sufficient land for various types of
development to meet the Core Strategy's objectives. A significant
amount of time has, however, elapsed since the Council consulted on
the Preferred Option version. One consequence of this is an
increased likelihood that landowners and others may have new site
opportunities that they would like considered for inclusion in the
Document.
A further "call for sites" took place in July 2010 where
there was an opportunity for completely new sites
to be put forward.
Longer term changes are proposed for the replacement of the LDF
system which, again, would require primary legislation and a good
deal of prior consultation. In the meantime, the Council intends to
press on with finalising the Site Allocations Document against the
provisions of the recently adopted Core Strategy.
