Guidance for Covid-19 Controls for Remembrance Services

Unfortunately, due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, organisers of Remembrance Sunday commemorations will have to significantly alter the way in which services and commemorations are undertaken this year.

Whilst these events are not council organised, we have produced some guidance to support organisers in their duty to only hold events if they can be done so COVID securely and in line with government guidance. Organisers are encouraged to explore different ways in which commemorations can be undertaken that discourages any gatherings, including virtual services or encouraging local resident to undertake in the two minutes silence from their doorstep.

Event organisers are reminded that they must also ensure they keep up to date with national and regional changes that may affect how any event is run.

Anyone wanting to use DDC land for a small, controlled commemoration are required to put an application in, and will be asked to provide a COVID secure risk assessment, submitting all documentation at least 28 days before the event. See:
