Revenues & Benefits

Service as normal. You can apply and submit proof online.

If your income has been affected by the recent Coronavirus outbreak and you are unable to pay your Council Tax, there are several options:

  • If your savings are below £6,000 (£16,000 for pensioners) you may be entitled to Council Tax Support. To estimate your entitlement you can use our online benefit calculator
  • If you do qualify for help towards paying your Council Tax, you can make a claim online
  • If you are still struggling to make payments during this time you can make an application for an exceptional hardship award. You need to qualify for Council Tax Support to make a claim for this.
  • If your savings are above £6,000 or you don’t qualify for Council Tax Support, but your income has dropped or you are experiencing cash flow problems, you can contact us and we can spread your instalments over 12 months rather than the usual 10 months. To discuss your Council Tax instalments please contact us on 01304 872199
  • If you need to send us any documents including proof for your claim, please use our online proof form to do this

Parking and Streets

ServiceStatusContact

Parking & Streets

As more people are now getting out and about in the district, Dover District Council (DDC) is reinstating parking charges in Council owned car parks and on-street pay and display bays from Friday, (22 May).  All other restrictions will now be subject to enforcement i.e., limited waiting bays, double yellow lines etc. This is in line with neighbouring Councils.

We will continue to offer free parking to NHS and Care Workers at present, identified by an official document placed on the dash board.

Parking has been free in DDC owned car parks since 27 March for home workers, key workers and residents to use during the early stages of the lockdown.  But, as lockdown restrictions ease and more people are using their cars, the Council needs to manage the turnover of parking spaces.

Planning Service

We will continue delivering our services but, as you will appreciate, there will be challenges over the weeks and months ahead.

Following the Government’s social-distancing advice, we are seeking to avoid all face-to-face meetings and restrict site visits where possible. Email will be the preferred means of contact at this time. Officers will suggest conference calls and other similar means of available technology where discussions with multiple attendees are necessary. Further detailed advice can be found planning application page and our pre-applications page.
